Is it safe?

Yes. UnfollowScout is built privacy-first, and safety is the whole reason it works the way it does.

You never enter your Instagram password

There is no "Log in with Instagram" button. You upload the data file Instagram gives you, and that's it. Because we never see your credentials, they can never be leaked or misused.

Your follower data never leaves your device

Your uploaded export and every list derived from it are processed in your browser and stored locally (IndexedDB). Your followers and following lists are never uploaded to or stored on our servers. Clearing your browser storage removes the data permanently.

It can't get your account banned

Accounts get flagged when third-party apps log in and automate actions on your behalf. UnfollowScout does none of that — it never connects to your Instagram account and never performs any action on it. You simply analyse a file you already downloaded and unfollow people yourself, manually. There is nothing for Instagram to flag.

What we do store

• Your email address and a securely hashed password (for your account login).
• Your subscription plan and billing status (handled by Stripe — we never store card numbers).
• A count of how many free reveals you've used, to enforce plan limits.
